Program Overview
The YWCA Adult Literacy & Learning program helps adults in Tazewell, Mason and Peoria Counties improve their basic reading, writing, math, and English speaking and listening skills.
Our specialty is helping adults with learning disabilities like dyslexia. For most of our students, learning was hard and they dropped out of school. Many have been out of school for a long time.
In our program, you will meet once or twice a week with a tutor at a place, time, and day(s) that work for you to help you reach your goals.

In phonics, we had the "ink" sound. "Wink" was one of the words. Hui Ling asked what it was. I explained and then I winked. She said that one of the older men customers winked at her. Now she knew what it meant and that it was friendly. We laughed about this. - Jan, tutor
