Program Overview
Workforce Literacy for Adults is a collection of services to aid workers in transition to move smoothly from one career path to another. It is also meant to be flexible so that adults can have several entry points.
1. Employment Assistance: A representative from Nebraska Workforce Development comes to the library to help people navigate the NE Works platform which connects people to potential jobs and provides unemployment assistance.
2. Training representatives from Goodwill of the Great Plains come in once a month to teach resume writing, interview skills, etc.
3. Digital Literacy Training is provided by library staff, in both English and Spanish to teach a variety of classes on the use of computers, adding apps to your cell phone, privacy, and understanding and spotting scams.
4. We offer book clubs in English and Spanish for adults. These clubs encourage reading and discussing of what they have read since the last meeting.
4. We have staff on board to help their children to find books they want to read, or choose toys for creative play, while the parents study.
It is our goal to offer these classes in more languages other than English and Spanish.
