Program Overview
Our agency has three major areas of focus: English Language Learning (ELL) classes, Tutoring, and Road to Work (RTW) for Refugees. All services are free of charge.
English classes consist of Family Literacy, English level 1 and 2/3, Basic Computer and Math Literacy, and Health Literacy. Classes are held on a trimester basis (1st trimester - January to April, May to August, and September to December). We use learner-centered assessment informed by annual assessment themes and priorities, e.g., in 2026, our assessment theme will be on Personal Expression and Identity.
The tutoring program provides one-to-one interaction with the learner which improves their English skills, as well as for Adult Basic Education skills and has a dramatic impact on improving their learning outcomes and increasing self-sufficiency.
RTW provides intensive employment-related training services. We use a combination of one-to-one coaching and group sessions to accelerate the student's learning. We teach pre-employment skills such as how to write and use a resume, how to complete an application online, and how to practice for an interview. Individual tutoring, Weekly Job Club, and Job Coaching are also offered.
