Volunteers for Literacy provides English classes for non-speakers of English in the area of Habersham County, GA. A volunteer-led program, we provide transportation and child care for those who need it. VFL classes are open to all immigrants, documented and undocumented. Classroom space is provided by Cornelia First Baptist Church for VFL classes and North Georgia Technical College classes. VFL provides child care and transportation for both. Classes are held Tues., Wed, and Thursday from 9am - 2pm. Evening classes will be available after April 2021 depending on COVID restrictions.
The mission of Volunteers for Literacy is to establish and maintain programs that promote and foster literacy in Habersham County. We work to empower people through literacy so they can lead more productive and fulfilling lives.
Hours of operation: 9am -2pm T-Th
Cost info: There is no cost for classes. Child care and transportation are provided for those who need it in order to take part in English acquisition classes. Those who use the transportation and can afford it are asked for donations for gas.
