Program Overview
The Outreach Education Program was launched in 2006 to extend the VHM valuable education services beyond the transitional housing program to the community-at-large. The goal is to increase independence by learning to speak English and earn a GED. We work to help women with limited
education raise their education levels, allowing them access to better jobs or higher education.
The program provides small group classes and one-on-one tutoring in GED through both English and Spanish languages, and English as a Second Language, (ESL). The program also provides many other classes as needed: computer skills, literacy, and citizenship, preparation for high school exit and college entrance exams, as well as tutoring for various college courses. With the onset of COVID-19, classes are held via Zoom with one-on-one, in-person, tutoring by appointment. Please call (210) 735-6910 for information on class registration and schedules.
