Program Overview
United Way's Reading Clubs focus on preparing at-risk 3rd grade students for the more complex reading materials found in 4th grade. Our mission is to break the cycle of generational poverty by giving our students the reading skills needed to succeed as they progress through school. Volunteers will read and complete reading comprehension activities with a small group of 3rd grade students after school once a week. United Way's Reading Clubs are located at Grissom, Longfellow, and South View Elementary Schools.
