Program Overview

Tyler Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center provides communication access, resources, education, and services to the communities of East Texas. We offer Deaf Book Club where people meet monthly to discuss the book they've read. Their reading level ranges from Kindergarten to College and we accommodate everyone's reading level. We also offer one on one education on how to write proper English and improve reading comprehension. Tyler Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center also helps Deaf and Hard of Hearing people with translating English into American Sign Language so they can understand what they are reading. Many Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in East Texas struggle with understanding written English and writing due to not getting proper education during their upbringing.
