Program Overview

We are Todos Juntos Learning Center because "Everybody Together" is the foundation for our future. Through our 2-Gen model, we work with children and parents simultaneously, building them up together, to create meaningful opportunities for the whole family. Family and community are at the core of who we are and why we exist. And because together more is possible, we partner with 13 different organizations to be a one-stop-shop for our students and their families.

At Todos Juntos Learning Center (TJ) we connect the disconnected and provide them a community of trust where they can build a network of support that is necessary to thrive in our community.

Many low-income children, especially those in families whose primary language is not English, are academically disadvantaged before they even start school. At Todos Juntos Learning Center, we recognize that combatting achievement gaps requires targeting the variety of barriers low-income non-English speaking families face. Since 2009, SSP has used a three-pronged approach to support family education for low-income, predominantly Latino, Central Texas residents. We combine high quality early childhood education (ECE), adult English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction, and culturally appropriate parenting and life skills education. By providing simultaneous programming to adults and children four days a week for nine months out of the year, TJ provides families the opportunity to learn together, prioritize the whole family's education, and gain control over their future.

TJ understands that parents who feel confident and capable are the best equipped to support their children, which is why our family learning center provides a variety of resources that are tailored to our population. At TJ we support our students to live, learn, work, and engage with the central Texas community. By promoting a population of children who are school-ready and adults who are able to work, shop, and socialize, we help build a central Texas of self-sufficient families.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

The children at Todos Juntos have had a significant impact on me, and the thing I look forward to most each day is coming back to the center to see all the friends I have made in the classroom I teach in. - Diego Ramos, 2 year volunteer

My husband has also benefited from our time at Todos Juntos. I share with him about what I learn, including how to talk to the kids, parenting tips, etc. Sometimes my husband gets on the floor and plays with us and we laugh until our bellies hurt. We spend more quality time together, which makes us a stronger family. - Maria, ECE Parent and ESL Student

Program’s Demographics/Metrics

Each year, TJ provides direct service to approximately 150 English language learners and indirectly impacts another 170 individuals. TJ's ECE program is equipped to serve 50-60 children each year. In 2016-17, 96% of adult students were female and 100% Latino. The primary population served by Todos Juntos Learning Center is made up of Latino families living in Austin–Round Rock, as well as Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson Counties. The families served are predominantly low-income, married, and women with no education beyond middle or high school.
