Program Overview

TSCLC is a 501c3 organization that supports the teaching of literacy skills. tha facility houses GED classes, One to One Tutoring, AVITA (Mentally challenged individuals) in our Computer Lab, along with general public access to the computers/internet. We have served 165 student/clients with 1 paid instructor, 16 tutors who have volunteered 1600 hours of their time, 4 volunteer office staff/tutors through the Legacy Link, Inc. Program, and 1 employed Center Director in 2017-2018 school year. The Center provides an environment that not only allows, but promotes everyone getting to know and support one other. Since June 2017 until the present (Oct. 2018) 4 students have obtained their High School Equivalency (GED) certification, with a 5th student to receive it soon! The Board of Directors and I, as Center Director, hold a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of each of our student/clients.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

"I would like to thank the Toccoa Literacy Center for giving me the resources and for providing free GED classes. Because they offer the class, I received my GED and am planning to go to school in the fall. I would like to thank them for being the wonderful people they are because they helped to teach me that there is more out there and they have given me the tools I need to further my schooling to get the degree I am looking for. I would like to mention that with this program that they have great class hours and are willing to make sure that you are prepared. In just a little over a years time I am a student that has taken all the tests, have completed my GED and am enrolling in college in the fall."
This was written by Bonnie Loggins who earned her GED in June 2018. She is the 4th student to do so this year!
