Program Overview

The Reading Program from the Santa Clara County Library District offers FREE 1-on-1 tutoring for adults who want to improve reading, writing, speaking & listening skills.

Who can join?

  • Adults (age 18 and up)
  • Understand basic spoken English
  • Read or write below high school level
  • Live within Santa Clara County Library District service area

What happens when I join?

  • Get free learning materials
  • Meet with your tutor 2 hours a week for at least 6 months
  • Meet online or in-person at the library
  • Get a chance to receive family literacy services:
    • Family events and workshops
    • Free books to build a home library
