Program Overview
The New Neighbor Project offers ESL classes, citizenship prep classes and Spanish HISET prep classes for adults both online and in-person. We also accept unaccompanied minor children ages 16-18. The in-person classes are located in New Orleans Public Libraries and Jefferson Parish Public Libraries at 6 locations across the city. Our teachers and tutors are all volunteers from Tulane University, Loyola University and the community at large; and no teaching experience is needed. We accept new students all year round and offer classes from January to May, summer classes, and August through December on a rolling basis.

The program is donation based and we ask that students donate a small fee of $25 for their book.Student and Volunteer Success Stories
