The Helms Academy-Maple Shade

Program Overview

The Helms Academy was designed for adults, 18 and older who have left traditional secondary education and are unable to return due to age and/or circumstance. At The Helms Academy we provide Adult General Education Development, life-coaching, job development and placement, and wrap-around support services resulting in a High School Diploma, dual earned college credit, access to financial aid to further the individual's education and employment.

I believe if it was not for Helms Academy, I would not have my high school diploma today. Without the overwhelming support, I probably would have not pursued it. The entire staff was understanding, patient, and helpful. As a working adult with a family, my time for schooling was very limited but Helms Academy staff worked with my schedule to make sure I was getting what I needed. Whenever I needed any assistance Helms staff were always there to help me better understand. The entire staff pushed me to do my best. Being awarded as a student of the month really made my family along with myself proud of my accomplishments. It also made me feel like what I am doing to better myself and my education is being seen by my peers. Finally knowing that I pushed myself through to get my diploma means a lot and it could not have been done without the support of Helms Academy.
