I usually organize the conference and professional development calendar for my organization. It was with joy I opened an email recently that asked not for my director to speak in Tulsa, Ok at the Ascend 2Gen conference but inquiring about an amazing mother in my program. Luz Marrow and her young daughter enrolled in ESL classes and early childhood classes a little over a year ago. In that short time Luz graduated to advanced ESL classes, completed her post-secondary CDA credential, got a job at a DC Public School and her daughter Yanay is successfully enrolled in one of the best bilingual Pre-K3's in the capital. Students like Ms. Marrow make all of us look good but the credit goes to her grit.
