Program Overview

We served over 1100 students in the 2017-2018 school year; helping over 60 obtain a certification through Fletcher Technical Community College, 125 obtain a high school equivalency diploma, and many more increase their educational knowledge in reading, math, and writing.

We offer ESL/ELL classes and Early Childhood Education.

Our goal is to provide individuals and families with the skills needed to have a successful community.

Mission Statement

The Terrebonne Parish Adult Education Program offers adults the opportunity to upgrade their education. The largest component of adult education focuses on basic skills instruction in reading, language, and math leading to Louisiana High School Equivalency Diploma attainment. There are also classes for adults who want to learn English and for those who want to learn to read and write for the first time. Additionally, the Adult Educaton Program offers opportunities for co-enrollment with Fletcher Technical Community College, as well as for distance learning. Adults may receive assistance to take and pass the GEE/GEE21 test in order to receive a high school diploma, and the family literacy area includes early childhood education and parenting classes. Students may also access the services of local Workforce Development programs through referrals to these agencies.

Hours of operation: Monday- Friday 8 to 3 Monday & Wednesday 5pm to 8 pm

Cost info: There is not a cost to enter the program or study for your HiSET test. The HiSET test costs $115. There is a fee to participate in graduation.
