The English as a Second Language (ESL) program helps students to master speaking, listening, and writing skills in English. Students also receive instruction in reading, math, and computer skills. To achieve these goals, the project will have three components: in-classroom teaching, computer literacy teaching, and academic advisement. A- In-classroom instruction, will be devoted 50% to conversation, listening and speaking, and 50% will be devoted to reading, writing, and grammar; B- Computer Literacy, all participants will have access to state-of-the-art computers at the Bronx EOC. Students will learn: computer fundamentals, Web navigation and e-mail, word-processing, and using Microsoft software in math, reading, and writing; and C- Academic advisement, will help students to resolve academic and career issues.
