Program Overview
My role, as Family Involvement Coordinator/School Social Worker, is to develop programs that strengthen the partnerships between schools, families and communities that contribute to student achievement. The program is federally funded through district Title I Parent Involvement funds.
Throughout the school year, a broad range of activities are developed and offered to families, students, and professionals. These activities engage families and provide support for them to help their children at school and at home. Families are invited to attend workshops, trainings and events where they can obtain educational resources to use in the home. Through a variety of outreach activities and home visits, open communication and strong collaborations are created. This collaboration enhances family, school and community support that is linked to student achievement. The family literacy events/workshops encourage parents/caregivers to continue their education as their children gain literacy skills; parents support each other in their development as learners and parents. Professional workshops/events/trainings strengthen educators knowledge on how to engage all families in ways that support their children's learning.
