Program Overview

United in Reading is a program where families come together to learn and grow in reading. It helps children who need extra reading support and their parents or caregivers. Families learn together in fun ways that make reading at home easier and more exciting.

Who can participate: Any family with children who want to improve their reading skills. Parents or caregivers also join to learn and practice literacy skills, including English, GED, or high school equivalency.

How it works: Children get small-group or one-on-one reading help. Adults get instruction in reading, English, and GED skills. Families spend time together practicing reading through activities and games called Parent and Child Together Time (PACT).

Why it's important: Reading together helps kids do better in school and helps adults improve their skills. Everyone in the family grows and learns at the same time.

How to join: Families can sign up through Student Central. Classes and family sessions are scheduled to fit busy family schedules. Materials and support are provided for everyone.
