Program Overview
Free, personalized, one-on-one tutoring to help students obtain GED/HSE as first-step towards economic self-sufficiency for themselves and their family. SVSF Center Children's Afterschool and Summer Education Programs provides individualized tutoring for children in grades 1-5.
Mission Statement
The mission of the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center (SVSF) is to provide educational programs, basic skill building and academic enhancement for at-risk children and adults; designed to build self-sufficiency skills for academic and employment success, personal achievement and dignity. The goals of the programs are to assist adult students to prepare for and obtain their GED; and, to increase academic performance for at risk children through after-school and summer supplemental educational programs.
Hours of operation: 5 Campuses throughout Detroit with flexible days ad hours
Cost info: Program is free. GED/HiSet book/calculator will need to be purchased. If student can not afford items, SVSF will provide assistance. (General total cost is approximately $28.)
Program’s Demographics/Metrics
Adult students 18 and older in need of their GED/HSE and children in grades 1-5 in need of individualized tutoring to meet and exceed national standards.
