Program Overview
The SouthWest Metro Adult Learning Center is an expanding program aligned to adult learning objectives. First, there are leveled English classes with many students from all nationalities attending. Students are assessed and given a placement spot with the goal of moving into English level 3. Students are also encouraged to attend GED preparatory classes, in two levels, including focused math instruction and literacy skills. We have expanded this year to include more distance learning for GED students, including a computer loan program that has been successful in connecting students to their learning goals without the constraints of getting to a physical location or budget issues in purchasing a computer. Finally, we have added career pathways courses the past few years, including ServSafe class, Commercial Driver's License Exam Prep and Intro to Computers and Computer Careers. We are continuing to offer digital literacy courses as well!
