Program Overview

HSED Competency-Based Diploma: SDC's competency-based program is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and
skills necessary to earn a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). The program provides an alternative way to earn a high school diploma. In a classroom environment, participants create a portfolio of work that demonstrates the required competencies in mathematics, communications, and pathways (civics, health,
and employability).

GED Program:
GED is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and skills necessary to earn a General Educational Development (GED) diploma. The program covers all subjects of the GED exam: social studies, science, mathematics and language arts(reading and writing).


Testing Center: SDC's testing center is a certified Pearson Vue site. Our GED students and the community are able to register online (pearsonvue.com) and test at our location. We are able to administer all GED subject tests as well as multiple other tests for various credentials.

Cost Info

Enrollment and program costs are covered by grants and are free to Milwaukee County, WI residents.
