Program Overview
Science Story Time is a one-hour program for preschoolers and their teachers or parents that combines literacy and social-emotional skill building with science inquiry. The program uses children's books to guide science inquiry and promote social interaction to improve kindergarten readiness. Programming includes teacher professional development, books, materials and supplies.
Family Explorers Club is a one-hour program for parents and early learners that combines literacy and social-emotional skill building with science inquiry through hands-on, minds-on play. Parents and children benefit from doing activities together, then receive additional activities to continue playing and learning together at home.
Both evidenced-based programs promote peer-to-peer and child-to-adult communication and a two-generation approach to increase the comfort level of using inquiry in learning and play to improve reading comprehension and vocabulary, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
