Program Overview

We provide one-to-one tutoring in basic reading, writing, and math skills and also for HiSET/GED preparation at any of our 28 library branches in Sacramento County using trained volunteer tutors. Days and times are flexible, based on the learner's and tutor's availability.

We also offer the Career Online High School (COHS) diploma program, which has a basic qualification process and is free to the student (cost is covered by the library or State Library).

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Examples of learner success stories include passing the tests to get a driver license, passing the citizenship test, understanding health information to care for a loved one and asking the doctor more questions, communicating better with a child's teacher, and writing a letter to the Fair Housing Administration, passing the GED and HiSET subject tests to earn high school equivalency, and getting a better job.
