Program Overview

ROE#33 Adult Education program is funded by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB).

Illinois High School Diploma classes, also known as High School Equivalency (HSE) classes, for adults who are 16 and older. The classes are offered in Monmouth, Galesburg, Bushnell, Carthage, and online with a target audience of students that are at least 17 years of age and not enrolled in school for this program. Additionally, ELL classes are offered in Monmouth and Galesburg ROE #33.

Adult Education students that are working towards their high school diploma will participate in a Bridge to Careers class and/or complete the Employment 101 credential. Students that are ELL and are at least an NRS level 4 will complete the IELCE Bridge that includes career and employment instruction. Students that complete a bridge class will be eligible for an ICAPS program. Currently we offer a menu of ICAPS that include CNA, Phlebotomy, CNC, Automotive, Computer Support, Basic Computer, and Paraprofessional. Students that are enrolled in Illinois High School Diploma classes or ELL class may earn a credential from an ICAPS program listed above, if they choose to pursue the opportunity.

The ROE#33 Bridge and Transition Services Coordinator and instructors work closely with the Adult Education students to plan for college, training, or career readiness by connecting with local agencies and services. The goal of Bridge and Transition Services is to bridge the gap between students and services.

Lastly, we provide Adult Volunteer Literacy (AVL) Service. The AVL service is funded by the Illinois State Library through the Secretary of State's Office. Our students can have one on one tutoring support through this service. Our AVL tutoring is available to anyone in the community who has a reading level below the 9th grade level and is 17 years of age or older and not enrolled in school.
We train tutors who are volunteers. We are always searching for volunteer tutors who can help our students. So if you are interested in becoming a tutor or if you want our AVL coordinator to come and speak at your organization, please let us know.

You can contact Melinda Whiteman who is our admin assistant for registration, referral, or for more information.
