Program Overview

Rising Up's Empowering Through Literacy program supports the agency mission by creating innovative lasting solutions to homelessness, hunger and poverty in Morgan County, Colorado. The program is aimed at assisting individuals to receive their GED by helping them study and prepare for the high school equivalency exam. Assistance and teaching are also available for English-language learners to help them with reading and writing, workforce skills, and becoming a U.S. citizen. Assistance is offered in Spanish when needed.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Rising Up's Empowering Through Literacy program helped me to work on my high school exam so that I could get my GED. I had trouble finding work because job applications asked for my highest level of education. Since I did not graduate high school it was hard when I had to answer this question and I did not get a call back. Rising Up's staff and volunteers were helpful and supported me to study and take the exam. I have a good job now and am thankful for the help I received. Jaxson M.
