Program Overview
Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement offers FREE English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes to help immigrants gain English skills to read, write, and communicate in their daily lives. Students practice useful everyday conversations that will help them communicate with landlords, employers, doctors, etc. Classes range from beginner to advanced instruction.
We work to meet students' different schedules, with in-person morning, evening, and weekend course options, and limited online morning/evening courses for beginner levels. We offer classes that meet at locations in Long Island City, Astoria, and Jackson Heights. Please visit our website for details.
New classes begin in September, January, and April. All classes meet for 10 weeks.
Our experienced ESOL instructors can help students develop language skills and knowledge of community resources in New York City.
