Program Overview

Reading Wildly: 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten works with a child between the ages of birth up to kindergarten and the child's parent or caregiver to encourage a love of reading. It creates bonding time between adult and child as they read together. Additionally, it helps a child to develop early literacy skills that will help them as they enter school and learn to read. Phonological awareness, phenomic awareness, and orienting a child with how to operate a book. These skills seamlessly come together as the child and adult read together. Each child receives three prizes (a finger puppet, a book bag, and a book) to encourage them along the way.
