Program Overview

Reading Together exposes families to a literacy challenge that allows the community to express themselves. With the assistance of an easy-to-use template and volunteers from city colleges, members are confident displaying their hard work. Each month, a different book encourages participants to evaluate societal issues. Participants have the chance to answer thought-provoking questions that engage the community. If answered correctly, individuals gain the chance of winning a prize. Reading Together recipients will post their book reviews on social media, and as a result, families engage in meaningful virtual conversations that excite others to join. This approach supports the lifelong theory that learning starts at home. This project is a literacy challenge that addresses the community's significant reading deficiency and expands on traditional education while strengthening the community and maximizing youth success.
