Program Overview

The purpose of the District 214 Community Education Read to Learn Adult Literacy/Volunteer program is to raise English literacy levels of adults reading below the ninth grade level by matching adult learners with volunteers trained to implement prepared individualized lessons designed to help adult learners succeed in improving their English literacy skills.

Mission Statement

The vision of the District 214 Community Education Read to Learn Adult Literacy/Volunteer program is to raise the literacy level of adults residing in the northwest suburbs of Chicago who read and write below the ninth grade level so they are empowered to have better employability success, knowledge and access to good health care, are able to assist their children with educational needs and be a productive and active member of their communities.

Cost info: Class is free, but a $15 donation is requested each semester to offset the cost of materials provided.
