Program Overview

READ from the START is a reading program that teaches parents and caregivers the joy and benefits of reading to children from birth to five years old. Local groups sponsor READ from the START in areas throughout Missouri. The sessions are facilitated through certified Discussion Leaders and filled with learning opportunities for parents and caregivers. Caregivers who attend RFTS take home new children’s books. READ from the START is free to all participants.

Cost info: READ from the START is currently offered free of charge. Our target audience includes parents/caregivers who may have limited access to books, and face economic hardships or educational challenges that make reading to their children difficult. The host site provides a meeting space for the program. Optional childcare and refreshments are encouraged.
