Program Overview
REACH OUT AND READ GEORGIA
Prescribe A Book. Change A Life.
Reach Out and Read Georgia is dedicated to preparing our state's youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together. Learn more about our program, here.
With nearly 100 program sites at hospitals, clinics and doctor's offices across Georgia, we provide 91,000 children and their families in 41 counties with free books and resources that promote early childhood literacy.
Our evidence-based model is backed by a large and growing body of academic research. We utilize the existing medical infrastructure, to encourage supportive, educational conversations with parents on the importance of reading aloud and the impact on children's brain development.
