Raise Me to Read

Program Overview

Raise Me to Read is working to support literacy and early learning for every child across Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

The initiative emphasizes the critical focus areas of school readiness, school attendance and summer learning of the national grade level reading campaign, which aspires to have every child reading at grade level by third grade. Our three goals are:

to engage and educate the community on the importance of reading and early childhood literacy;

to have students enter kindergarten ready to learn and ;

to have all students read proficiently by third grade.

This work involves the health industry, business and faith communities, non-profit sector, governmental entities, schools, early childhood providers and most importantly, parents and caregivers of our children. Each of these sectors is involved, bringing their own resources and areas of expertise in order to be successful. The Raise Me to Read campaign assists the community partners in developing and implementing the programs and activities that will enable our children to reach this goal.
