Program Overview

Awendaw Regional Outreach Center(AROC) is a 501(c)(3) community organization which offers needed educational services to improve the lives of at-risk youth, young adults, and families to be able to improve in the areas of health, education, and human welfare by offering literacy programs with three basic components:

  • Adult Basic Education- which comprises instruction in reading, writing, computing, and problem-solving, and may also include English as a Second Language, GED classes and jobs skills training;
  • Parenting education- which helps families actively participate in their children's education at home and at school;
  • Youth summer reading 365 program- to help children improve their reading and comprehension skills.

AROC's programs are geared to eliminate generational poverty in rural communities--families, parents, and children that are very low-income and participate in free lunch programs who are below grade level in reading and math. The goal is to get individuals back on track with foundational skills. You can enroll anytime and work at your own pace.
