Program Overview

OC Read offers different programs to help you, depending on your needs and reading goals. All services are free and confidential. For more information, or to enroll, please contact OC Read at readoc@occr.ocgov.com or 714-566-3070.


One-on-One Tutor
For Orange County adults who want to improve their basic reading and writing skills. OC Read does an informal evaluation of your skills and finds a tutor who can meet with you at your local OC Public Libraries branch for two hours a week. For a list of all branches, visit ocpl.org/libraries.

One-on-One matches are available for residents of Orange County who:
  • Are 16 years or older 
  • Are not enrolled in the K-12 school system 
  • Have two or more hours a week to devote to tutoring
  • Attended most of their K-12 education in the United States (*Adult learners do not have to have graduated high school to be eligible).


Walk-in Tutor
A Walk-in Tutor can offer quick help with job applications, reading, writing questions, and more in personal 20-minute sessions. This service is for all adults ages 16+.

Walk-in tutoring is available at the Tustin Library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM on a first-come, first-served basis.


ESL Referral
For Orange County Residents looking for English tutoring and classes in reading, writing, speaking, and/or listening, OC Read offers personalized assistance locating low-cost and no-cost programs. Please call our office to speak to a literacy coordinator about programs in your region.
