Program Overview
Next Generation Publishing aims to help increase literacy and provide free books to children in book deserts. With parents' permission, children will be mailed one to two books monthly. This mailing will include a complete book kit with the book, bookmark, stickers, and an activity. This activity will be a worksheet that asks questions about the book. Children are asked to submit their worksheets using the stamped envelope they are provided. Youth will receive a QR code to listen to the book being read, or they may participate in the virtual reading by the owner or another reader. Children who complete the reading program will be entered into a drawing to work with the owner and publish their book. This program will provide access to reading materials, foster a love for reading, build literacy skills, and cultivate social connections. Participants will be referred by school personnel, parents, or other nonprofit participants.
