My name is M.H. and I am enrolled in the High School Equivalency (HSE) program. Let's go back 20 years. My sister and I were enrolled in the daycare at New Beginnings. I remember many of the songs that we learned such as the germ, germ, germ is like a nasty worm song and the Super Bowl song. Some of the first numbers I learned were a “1" and “8" and “18" for Peyton Manning. Those were great times! Fast forward—I got into a lot of trouble in high school and did not graduate. I thought I was grown and I did not listen to my mother. I saw Miss Evans at the library this past summer and she was there with a group of kids. When I saw her, I was so happy and I told her that I did not graduate and I had gotten into some trouble. She told me that I have the perfect program for you. I took the locator test and I scored low in math, writing and language arts. The tutors work with me and they are very encouraging and helpful.
New Beginnings provides a free cell phone program, diapers, personal hygiene items, social worker, lawyer and helps with bills such as rent and utilities. This program is a blessing and I am glad to be back at New Beginnings where it all began for me nearly 20 years ago!
