Program Overview

Adults struggling with literacy

Reading to New Heights provides adults that are illiterate or functionally illiterate (adults that cannot read at the correct level) with literacy training to assist them in providing a better life for themselves, their children, and their communities. The programs are private with certified educators and Department of Education approved lessons on a fully interactive online platform. There is no cost to the adult learners. Reading To New Heights programs are customizable so that the adult learner can conduct their tutoring around their schedules. We believe that Its Never Too Late!

Volunteers

Reading To New Heights is always looking to welcome new volunteers that are certified educators (active and inactive). Our volunteers have a passion to give low literacy adults another chance at a better tomorrow for themselves, their children and their community through literacy. We welcome volunteer educators that are ready to improve a foundational skill of adults struggling with literacy.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Darlene (Adult Learner) I just struggled. In school, I was just struggling to read.

My brother texted me one day and said, "I think I'm going to let these people help me with my reading." *They began training together*

Even when my husband and I started dating, I had so much fear because I didn't want to date to know that I can't read at a high level. I had to be honest and tell him.

This is one of the best programs ever! I have tried all of the other ones, but this one gives you the understanding you need.

[My tutor] really puts all of her time into making sure I understand.

It did impact me and my learning and my health. I just struggled. I struggled in school and struggled to learn to read.

I've been praying for this since I was a child--to learn how to read. I am so grateful.

"It makes for great conversations between the two of us, and we're both learning a lot because [our instructor] really puts all of her time into making sure you understand," she said. “We're both just so grateful for her and the program."

I'm reading now. I am more confident, and I want to write a book. If I can do it, so can everyone who struggles with reading.
