Program Overview

NAAF offers classes to help adults earn their GED and build reading and writing skills. The program also supports children with after school learning, early reading, and O'odham language activities. Families can join special events where parents and children learn together through stories, games, and simple reading activities. Services take place in the GuVo District of the Tohono O'odham Nation. Adults get help with study plans, practice tests, and learning goals. Children take part in hands on projects, storytelling, and early literacy lessons. All programs are open to community members and are designed to support learning in a safe, friendly, and culturally grounded space.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

Our Family Literacy Program helped adults and children learn and grow together this year. Adults worked on reading, writing, and GED skills with weekly support, study plans, and practice tests. Children took part in early reading, storytelling, and O'odham language activities that helped them build confidence and learn new words. Families joined simple reading games, cultural stories, and hands on projects that made learning fun for everyone. Many parents shared that they now read more at home and feel better helping their children with schoolwork. The program created a safe, friendly, and culturally grounded space where families could learn together and support each other.
