Program Overview

Muskogee Public Library Adult Literacy Program was organized in 1979.

Since that time the program has changed as needed to offer the best learning experiences we can.

Our classes are ongoing and students can enroll at any time and attend as long as necessary or desired.

Our program is for adults 18 and over.

  • All classes and materials are free.
  • Classes are offered in-person and online.

Our program offers the following classes

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • GED test preparation
  • U.S. Citizenship test preparation
  • Adult Basic Education


Positions for volunteer tutors are available.

Requirements

  • must be 21 and over
  • have a high school diploma
  • be proficient in speaking, reading and writing English
  • reside in the northeast region of Oklahoma
  • agree to attend 10 hours of tutor training classes (All required classes are given at Muskogee Public Library.)
  • fill out an application and background check
  • have a basic understanding of computers
