Program Overview
The Montgomery County Literacy Project was established in 1986 by Frank and Gloria Wendell. Frank , as a judge, and Gloria, as a community volunteer, became aware of the growing literacy needs in our county and decided to create a program that would address the needs of adults seeking to improve their literacy skills.
Mission Statement
MCLP's mission is to offer free tutoring services to adults, 18 and older, in Montgomery County, who are seeking to improve their literacy skills in reading, writing and/or math. We also support those who are interested in obtaining their high school equivalency (TASC) and those who are seeking to improve their ESL skills. Recently we have added career path testing to help students focus on jobs that utilize their areas of strength.
