Program Overview

The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification program will provide critically needed college & career readiness and digital literacy skills to be successful in the workforce. Candidates will learn desktop computing skills necessary to be most effective on the job. The program will be opened to secondary public and private schools. According to 2014, Pearson Education Inc. "Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification is the leading IT certification in the world." It demonstrates students have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to productively use Microsoft Office. MOS enables you to tap the full features and functionality of the Microsoft Office system, resulting in heightened levels of individual performance, confidence, and differentiation.This program will include Microsoft Office Word 2013 desktop application. The program aims to serve the adult education population to promote digital literacy and maximize technology by empowering clients with vital desktop computing skills. Microsoft Word is a word processing desktop application designed to help students create professional quality documents. MS Word helps students create and share documents, organize documents more efficiently, edit and review tools to collaborate and manage documents.Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification validates essential office productivity skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Office desktop applications to meet industry demand skill sets to reflect expertise, promote sufficiency and bridge the technology gap. MOS certification measures students' ability to accomplish basic desktop application computing tasks. To receive the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification designation, the student will need to pass one desktop application exam. For example, when the student passes the MS Word 2013 exam, he or she will become a Certified Microsoft Office Specialist for Office Word 2013.
