Program Overview

GED/ABE/ESOL classes are provided for adults who are blind or visually impaired. Registration is on a rolling basis so the program can be joined at any time during the year. Classes are free. Transportation is free* STS/Transportation vouchers provided if needed.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) and GED: Monday to Thursday, 8am to 11:30 am.

In partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools our Adult Basic Education (ABE) program for blind and visually impaired adults is designed to gain the education needed to complete their GED. Our program stresses basic education for adults and the opportunity to pursue a GED. Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes are free. Students' GED testing fees are paid by Miami Lighthouse. GED testing takes place at Lindsey Hopkins Technical College, an official GED® Testing Center.

ESOL: Monday to Thursday 12:30pm to 2:30pm.

In addition to Adult Basic Education, ESOL (English as a second language) is offered for those students whose first language is Spanish or Creole.
