Program Overview

Project L.E.A.D. (Literacy for Every Adult in Dade) is an adult literacy program designed to assist English‑speaking adults with low literacy skills. The program provides free, one‑on‑one, confidential tutoring to help adults improve their reading and writing skills. Adult learners are matched with volunteer tutors who help them achieve their reading goals. Teams meet twice per week either in-person, online or in a hybrid format for one‑hour sessions at a time.

Adult learner assessments, volunteer tutor training, and one-on-one tutoring occur either in-person or using the Zoom platform. To assist adult learners that do not have access to a laptop or tablet, we invite them to use the MDPLS Mobile Device Lending Program.

Free GED Math and Science Tutoring is offered online only in four 10-week semesters per year to increase student probability of passing the math and science sections of the GED.
