Program Overview

The purpose of the Metro East Literacy Project is to promote literacy to adults and children by providing access to books, reading lessons, libraries and quality reading experiences. We like to help people learn how to read or improve their reading skills. We also give free books to families that don't have many books in their home. Our bag of 25 books has titles for adults and children because grownups need to read, too. Through our Imitate Reading Initiative, we encourage parents to read not only to their children but also in front of the kids so they understand the importance of reading. When a family pledges to have 100 books in their home, they become a part of Erudite Nation.
