Program Overview

For those not familiar with the Memory Loss Resource Center concept, it provides opportunities for caregivers, those with memory issues, and their families to check out kits designed to spark conversation and memories. Each kit is unique. It contains items pertaining to fishing, dogs, horses, sewing and farming to name a few topics. The kits contain books, DVDs, CDs, and, most importantly, special items to get the senses going. Maybe a small bag of hay or oats, for example.

Cost Info

These kits are free to check out to anyone with a library card. These kits help family members or others talk to loved ones who suffer from dementia or alzheimer's.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

I had a caretaker tell me that she used one of the kits and only used the pictures in the kit with her person she was working with. She told me, the person she was working with had not laughed so hard and so much in quite a long time, and it was all to do with these pictures in one of the kits she checked out at the library.
