Memorial Assistance Ministries ESL Program

Program Overview

MAM's adult English as a Second Language (ESL) courses empower non-native speakers to obtain gainful employment and participate in their children's education. Our classes span six levels of English proficiency (Levels 0-4 and Conversation) and are offered on-site and at various location in the community twice a week from 9am-12pm, 12:30-2:30pm, and 6-8pm. Fairhaven United Methodist Church – 1330 Gessner Drive, 77055

St. Thomas Presbyterian Church – 14100 Memorial Drive, 77079

Those interested can register at the beginning of the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters each year. ESL courses are offered at no tuition cost, and students are provided with free workbooks and student books at a reduced cost of $15. Students must complete an assessment at the beginning of the course period for proper class level placement, and are also given exit testing at the end of semester for progression results.

MAM also offers U.S. citizenship classes and private tutoring. Additionally, MAM is a host site for GED and Microsoft Office/Computer Literacy classes offered in Spanish by partnering agencies.
