Program Overview
Literacy Volunteers on the Green, Inc., in 2022 will celebrate 17 years as an adult literacy center, serving adults in northwestern Connecticut. At intake and assessment, students take a placement test and based on their level and schedule are then placed in a learning team. Learning teams meet in 14 towns in NW CT, either in one-on-one sessions or in small groups. Tutors and students typically meet for 90 minutes each week, in-person or through distance learning. Literacy programs include: English language learning, basic skills remediation in math, reading, and writing, U.S Citizenship preparation, and Family Literacy. All adults interested in furthering their education and English language abilities are welcome to contact the LVG office at info@lvg-ct.org or call 860-355-0860. LVG offers rolling admission.
Cost Info
LVG provides free English literacy instruction to adult learners in northwestern Connecticut. Tutoring is provided by volunteer tutors, trained by Literacy Volunteers on the Green. Learning teams are comprised of a tutor and a small group of adult learners or a one on one tutoring situation.
