Program Overview

Literacy Volunteers on the Green, Inc., in 2022 will celebrate 17 years as an adult literacy center, serving adults in northwestern Connecticut. Learning teams meet in 14 towns in NW CT, either in one-on-one sessions or in small groups. Tutors and students typically meet for 90 minutes each week, in-person or through distance learning. Literacy programs include: English language learning, basic skills remediation in math, reading, and writing, U.S Citizenship preparation, and Family Literacy. All adults interested in furthering their education and English language abilities are welcome to contact the LVG office at info@lvg-ct.org or call 860-355-0860. LVG offers rolling admission.

Student and Volunteer Success Stories

"What we learn is not just the English language. We learn about this country, the people, the history. When you do not speak your country's language, you are living life on the side of the road. You are just there, lost. Now, I am not on the side of the road anymore."--Rosa, current Literacy Volunteers on the Green student
