Program Overview

Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area (LVMont), a private, nonprofit organization established in 1973, promotes literacy in the Montachusett Area by providing free, confidential, and individualized tutoring to adults in basic literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Literacy Volunteers of the Montachusett Area provides adult learners (anyone 18 or older) with 1-on-1 tutoring for basic literacy or English as an additional language. We also offer citizenship classes and conversation circles. We train our volunteer tutors in basic literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tutoring. Our tutors and students work together for 2 hours a week, set their own schedules, and meet at public places like libraries. We serve students across northern Worcester county, from Gardner to Pepperell (and beyond).
