Program Overview

Since 1969, Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County (LVCC) has been helping to change the lives of local residents who need help learning basic literacy skills, improving their current reading skills or learning the English language. The teaching is done by well-trained, dedicated volunteers who willingly give their time and energy to help others intheir community. Tutors work individually with students for approximately 2 - 6 hours per week at a convenient public location to meet a variety of goals. Common goals of our students include improving reading & writing skills, obtaining employment skills, preparing to take the GED exam, and/or learning the English language. LVCC receives funding from a number of organizations so that this program can be provided to students at NO COST.
