Student and Volunteer Success Stories
"I think literacy is important to get ahead in life and I always felt held back because of my lack of literacy. It has been hard going on job interviews or getting the job and then having to go to orientation and having people make fun of me because of my reading. School wasn't always a positive experience for me because it was hard for me to learn but after coming to LV Monmouth and meeting with a tutor, I found I LOVE to learn.
If you want to learn bad enough you will achieve it but you must fight for it and have a positive attitude, determination and drive. Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County is an excellent program and what they are doing is life changing."
During our 2017-2018 fiscal year we provided 15,337 hours of free tutoring in one-to-one, small group and classroom settings. 135 trained and active volunteer tutors gave their time to 466 adult students in Basic Literacy, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Family Literacy, Math, U.S. Citizenship preparation and our pre-Ged/ABE program.
