Program Overview

Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts-Boston teaches adults to learn to read, write, or speak English. Each student works for 2 hours per week with their own volunteer tutor. The lessons focus on what the student needs and wants to learn. The tutoring is free. The tutoring is confidential. The student and tutor decide when to meet. The student and tutor meet in a public place like the library. They can also meet online. Most students read below the 6th grade level.
